FIBER AND CARE GUIDE

Semi Natural Fibers

Viscose, Modal and Lyocell are so called regenerated fibers, the origin is natural but the fiber has been man-made. Viscose are often called artificial silk, the touch of the fabric is often very resembling to silk and have a natural luster and softness that is loved by many.

However, regenerated fibers can be unkind to our planet when it comes to excessive water and chemical usage. Its Avoras aim to always use viscose that is better produced and traceable to make sure the forestry is not from endangered forestry. For example, we prefer to use viscose from or Ecovero ™ from Lenzing™ or lyocell from Tencel ™

Please be careful with your garments made from Viscose or Lyocell, they often have a natural shrinkage and should always be washed cold and with care, iron and stretch when damp to regain the original shape and look. Follow care instructions. Wash less, instead air out and spot remove to prolong your garment life.

Natural fibers

Cotton is a natural material, its character is soft and durable. Cotton is also breathing and absorbing moist giving the carrier comfort. ÀVORA prefers to use organic cotton, it is a better choice since its produced and grown without the use of harmful pesticides and chemicals.

Garments made from cotton is durable and long lasting. To prolong life of your garments made in cotton, follow care instructions carefully, wash less, instead air out and spot remove to prolong your garment life. Cotton have a natural shrinkage, we recommend to stretch and iron when damp to regain the original shape and look.

Linen Linen is a natural fiber that that is often used to make high quality fabrics. Linen is a favourite because of its durability, softness and strength. Avora prefer to use linen fibres from Europe due to less environmental impact. Always follow care instructions, wash less, since linen have a natural shrinkage steam or iron when damp to regain the the shape and lustre of the garment.

Wool is an animal originated fiber. It is natural and breathable. Wool have very special features, keeping you warm in cold temperatures  and cool in warm temperature. Wool is also odor- and wrinkle-resistant, which means that wool clothing doesn’t need to be washed as often as other fiber types do, saving water and energy.

Wool is extra important to wash less, instead air out and spot remove to prolong your garment life. Use special wool detergent for that little extra love or dry clean. Always follow care instructions,  we also recomend you to be extra careful with hot steaming and ironing – always use low temperatures.

Its important for us to care for the animals in our value chain. All our suppliers needs to sign and commit to our animal welfare policy to guarantee the welfare of the animals. ÀVORA never use real fur or animal originated materials from endangered species.

Syntethic fibers

Polyester and Polyamide are synthetic fibers. The character of the fibers is strength, durability, crease-resistant, and keep shape in garments well. Never the less synthetic fiber is made from fossil fuels and have a major climate impact, ÀVORA aims to use recycle polyester.

Follow care instructions, wash less, instead air out and spot remove to prolong your garment life. Iron carefully with low temperature.

Deadstock ÀVORA has chosen to work with deadstock materials when possible rather than creating and producing new fabrics. Using existing resources instead of creating new is always a good choice, not at least when it comes to reduce climate impact.

PRODUCT CARE

Jeans and Denim

Garments made in denim needs some extra attention. Avoid washing to keep the color, try to put your jeans in the freezer to fresh up or hang outside but always avoid direct sunlight or strong light since it might have a bleaching effect. The natural character of indigo color is to loose color with time which unfortunately means that it might bleed onto other textiles and garments, for example shoes or furniture. Be a little extra careful. If you need to wash your jeans, wash inside out, never use fabric softener or tumble dry. Always close zippers and buttons when washing. Wash with similar colors.

Blazer and Jackets

Try to avoid washing, spot removal and refresh by hang out. To keep shape and protect delicate material we mostly recommend dry cleaning for our blazers, coats and jackets. Store using a hanger made for suits to keep the shape.

Chunky Knit

We love our knit and with the right care they will be your companion for many years to come. Avora use premium materials and often we recommend dry cleaning to protect the shape and longevity of the garment. Always try to wash as less as possible, hang out in fresh air for self cleaning. When wet flat dry, store folded to keep shape. Stretch to regain shape. If needed use a textile comb carefully to remove pilling.

ÀVORA recommend to choose a dry cleaning company with environmental certificate to be kinder to our planet.
